Face Serums – Spring 2020 Favorites

Quarantine has had us all stuck indoors for weeks on end, so let’s talk about some serums. These are products I”ve been using for at least 4-6 months, some even longer. I have a list of products that I plan to purchase and work into my routine very soon, which I’ll of course be sharing here. But for now, here are some of my absolute favorite skin serums and oils that I have been loving that are essential for giving your skin a glow, even while indoors.

You know I like to jump right into things instead of making you read forever, so let’s jump right into these serums!

Pacifica Glow Baby Booster Serum w/ Glycolic Acid + Vitamin C : When I saw Glycolic Acid and Vitamin C together on this label I couldn’t snatch this into my cart fast enough. This serum improves the rate of skin cell turnover while also feeding it Vitamin C. The ingredient combination brightens, declogs, and improves the skin’s texture.

Cocokind Vitamin C Serum w/ Sea Grape Caviar : I stumbled upon this beauty in the lovely beauty aisles of Target. Cocokind is a natural and organic skincare brand which sold me instantly. Then I used the product, and fell in love. This vitamin C serum is super hydrating and makes my skin feel supple. I love the glow it gives my skin.

The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%  : This was one of my first serums by The Ordinary brand and I fell in love with it instantly. Niacinamide and Zinc combo help to reduce sebum production which in turn reduces the appearance of pores and blemishes.

The Ordinary Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate 10% : This lightweight cream is essentially a water soluble version of vitamin C. Use this after all of your water based products, before you finish your routine with moisturizer or oil. I use it as the icing on the cake in brightening and evening my skin’s texture.

Derma-E Acne Blemish Control Treatment Serum : This product was initially sent to me to try and after I saw my results after the first bottle, I’ve been repurchasing ever since. This serum has been a staple at managing breakouts. It’s one thing to journey to clear skin, but the key is in maintaining it and this product has helped me achieve just that.

Pinkness Forever Flawless Beauty Oil : There aren’t enough words to explain my love for this oil. It’s the perfect addition to anyone’s skin care routine. This oil hydrates your skin without feeling super greasy and honestly transformed my hyperpigmented skin. I love using this oil in addition to serums or even just on it’s own. It’s that good.

To help increase absorption of your skin serums and reduce inflammation, I also highly recommend incorporating a Jade Roller to your skin care routine. You can shop one here from Mom-tings along with the Marbled Beauty Dish featured in the pictures above.

Like many parents, I went into the new school year unsure of what it would bring. I tried to remain optimistic that things would flow and we’d eventually get into a groove that worked for our family.

This post is dedicated to sharing my current home collection of books for black/brown kids. This book list is by all means for EVERYONE. Representation matters not just for the little brown and black
