New Site - New Blog

Hello Hello!

It's been a while since I've last written and published a blog post - and to be honest, I've missed it. But it was time to switch gears and align my blog with my overall brand. Mama's Kitchen and Curls was my initial blog I started over 6 years ago that taught me a handful of lessons about blogging and allowed me to share a wealth of my knowledge on motherhood, curls, beauty, and general home life. She's still alive and thriving (currently in need of a makeover - but accessible here) although the articles have been imported here and archived for now until I redesign + format them with photos. I pride MK+C on being a resource, and that will be the constant that will remain true here on this blog. Not too much fluff - yes I'll be sharing some juicy stories - but you won't have to read paragraph upon paragraph to get to the meat here. We're all about impactful and straightforward pieces.

Content wise, you can expect to still get resourceful and informative articles with a slight shift of subject matter. I want to bring forth and shine light on the wellness journey that I've been on that has enabled me to thrive over the last several years. Food, hair, and beauty will still be featured because they were and are an integral part of my wellness journey, but they won't be the main focus anymore. I will be re-writing and publishing some old pieces on some of those subjects that are in need of updating as well as of course creating new pieces that I'm super excited to create and share.

So, going forward, you can expect to get more articles like the first one I posted sharing how I plan my weeks based on the planetary energies each day holds, along with tips, guides, recipes, transparent stories about my healing journey and more.

I'm so elated to re-invent my blog and do 2 of my favorite things, write and inform. If there are any topics you want to see, please don't be shy and leave a suggestion in the contact box, or leave a comment.

I know many people are consuming their information through video content, but I feel there is something sacred and special about written text - especially for informative purposes. I don't know about you, but I don't want to watch a video to get step 3 or scrub through a video to find a piece of information I heard mentioned a few days ago. The intent behind this blog is to be an accessible and credible source for information while simultaneously sharing more transparently, my stories, my truth, my research.

Thank you for following the journey and the evolution and I can't wait to see what this next chapter brings.

With love + light,

Charis, The Mama

Like many parents, I went into the new school year unsure of what it would bring. I tried to remain optimistic that things would flow and we’d eventually get into a groove that worked for our family.

This post is dedicated to sharing my current home collection of books for black/brown kids. This book list is by all means for EVERYONE. Representation matters not just for the little brown and black
